Our November mission is to stock the food pantry for Thanksgiving. We are asking the classes to bring the following items:
- Pre-K & 5th: rice, gravy mix, dry beans
- K & 6th: stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese
- 1st & 7th: soup, canned vegetables
- 2nd & 8th: cranberries, pumpkins, canned fruit
- 3rd & 4th: peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce
Please join me in wishing Jean McCormack the best as she begins her new position with Brown Helicopter. As the kindergarten aide, Jeanne has worked at Sacred Heart Cathedral School for 16 years with Mrs. Jennifer Haines. While we will miss Jean’s friendly smile and gentle spirit, we wish her well as she begins her new venture. Fortunately, Ms. Williams, mom to Mariah in third grade and Estrella in pre-K, will be joining Mrs. Haines as the new kindergarten aide. Ms. Williams has a degree in education and has been spending time with Mrs. Haines preparing for her new position.
We are going to begin a new tradition here at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. On Tuesday, November 22nd, our school will gather together as a family for a Thanksgiving meal which will be served in the gym. Because our school has grown to 300 students, we will have two shifts. The children will eat with their buddies so they can spend some time together. The first lunch shift will include Pre K- and 5th grade, K and 6th, and 3rd grade. The second shift will include 1st and 7th grade, 2nd and 8th grade and 4th grade. Room moms will be serving the meal which will consist of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and green beans, rolls, and dessert. Water, milk, and lemonade will be served. I realize some of our children have specific food allergies, so please let me know what we can do to accommodate your child.
Please join us for our Veteran’s Day Celebration tomorrow morning at our 8 a.m. prayer gathering. We are thankful and reminded of our veterans’ continual service to our country.
Thank you to Patti Salvaggio and Wendy McIntosh-Holmes, Dyna, Dana, and the countless volunteers who brought in water, made pumpkin bread and helped serve on Saturday. As always, this race is a great family event. It was so nice to see so many of our families participate. We could not have had this race without your support. Thank you, once again, for being part of our family here at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
