Diocesan statement about campus closures

A STATEMENT FROM THE DIOCESE OF PENSACOLA-TALLAHASSEE:

Catholic Diocese announces PreK-12 classes on campuses will be canceled through April 15, 2020.

The Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee announces the cancellation of classes on campuses, for grades PreK-12, through April 15, 2020, in accordance with the directive of Governor DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education.

The temporary closing of Early Learning Centers will be determined on a site by site basis. The Office of Catholic Schools is currently developing a Continuity of Learning plan to continue and advance student learning. Faculty are training in distance education. Principals of the diocese will be sending forthcoming information to parents in the coming days.

School Closure

School will be closed for students for 2 weeks with NO academic instruction.

  • Spring Break has been moved to next week, March 16-20
  • School will be closed March 23 – 27
  • Students will return to school Monday, March 30
  • School will be in session April 14 – 17
  • Thursday, April 9     Noon Dismissal (No lunch. No Extended Care.)
  • Friday, April 10    No School
  • Monday, April 13     No School
  • Tuesday – Friday     School is open

Student Led Conferences have been canceled. Report cards will be sent home with your student when they return on March 30, 2020.

Distance Learning: If we are mandated to remain closed after March 30, we will begin distance learning via internet and/or packets of material for our younger students.

CYSL soccer games have been postponed at this time.

Campus Cuisine has been canceled March 16 – March 27

NO SCHOOL TOMORROW

No school tomorrow (Tuesday) due to a water main pipe break late this afternoon.

School is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday morning.

Class pictures will be rescheduled.

We apologize for this last minute development but by law we cannot open school without water.

This is the year of flexibility!

School Closing – Hurricane Michael

Sacred Heart Families,hurricane

In preparation for Hurricane Michael, Sacred Heart will be dismissing early tomorrow and will remain closed on Wednesday.

  • Tuesday – October 9th
    Early Dismissal, will begin at 11:45 a.m.
    There will be NO Extended Care
    All after-school extracurricular activities are cancelled.  (This includes things like Science Olympiad and sports practices)
  • Wednesday – October 10th
    NO SCHOOL
    PTO Meeting is cancelled
    All sports practices are cancelled.

We will post our status for Thursday as soon as it is available.

Please remember that our school may resume earlier than the public schools.  We will keep families updated via SchoolMessenger phone calls, email and posts on the school blog and Facebook page.

In accordance with our policy of following Escambia County public school closings for inclement weather, Sacred Heart Cathedral School will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, September 4th. In addition, all CYSL events for tomorrow are also cancelled.

We expect school to resume on Wednesday and will notify families if that changes.
