As we continue to journey through Advent, we wait for the birth of Jesus, who came to show us the Father’s love. We wait for him to be born again in our hearts, our classrooms, and our homes as the Light of the World. We begin our Morning Prayer in song, led by Mr. Tom Baroco. We pray for God to be our guiding light through His Son’s likeness and to spread light throughout the world. We ask God to help us to live our life with our daily actions rooted in goodness and forgiveness.
Please join us for Mass tomorrow as we extend an invitation to our school and parish community to meet for fellowship after Mass. Thank you to Michelle Benzinger and Molly Kane for organizing this event. If you meet outside of church, Michelle and Molly will direct you to the Rita Reynolds room in the parish building.
Thank you to all of the children and families for being part of our wonderful evening of Christmas songs and performance. Once again, we are shown the wonderful talent our students exhibit at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. As I said last evening, thank you for giving us the privilege of working with your family for academic excellence and service to all.
Midterm exams for students in our middle school are next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students have been given study guides and the review has begun. Thank you for supporting your child in academic excellence with this endeavor.

December 1, 2015
As we immerse our hearts and thoughts into this Advent Season, we are reminded of the many blessings we have been given. The Student Council’s Advent project is to identify several families on the Angel Tree at Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish. We have identified three families who include 10 children. It is our goal this Advent season to collect money so we can provide presents for these children.
We are asking for monetary donations, which we will be collecting until Friday, December 11. Once the money is collected, student council members, teachers, and representatives will shop for the presents requested. We will then wrap the presents and bring them to church at our liturgy on Friday, December 18.
We thank you, in advance, for your participation in this project.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our first Family Spiritual Evening will be held during the first week of Advent, on Wednesday, December 3, 2015. The evening will begin with a chili dinner, prepared and served by our teachers. We will meet in the gym where dinner will be served. Just bring your family to enjoy. We appreciate you, our parents, and welcome you in partnership during the spiritual development of your child(ren) throughout the year, but especially during this Advent season.
Following dinner, Mr. Hartwell will present a reflection on “Celebrating the Presence not the presents”. This short reflection will be followed up with age-appropriate discussion groups. The teachers will be leading the discussion groups. Everyone will then come together for an Advent family activity where the families will be given the supplies to make an Advent wreath for the home. The evening will begin at 5:30 and will finish no later than 7:30.
Please plan to join us for this evening of spiritual growth during the Advent season. We look forward to the opportunity to grow together as a family community in anticipation of the celebration of Christmas.
Please RSVP by November 30th, so we have enough supplies…
You may send an email to email@example.com indicating family name and number attending or send an email to your child’s primary teacher. Thank you for all you do in partnership with us in promoting our Catholic identity within our schools and families.
