Greetings,Advent Wreath for Week 1

Please join us for Mass this Friday led by the primary grades.  The students will sing a special song at the end of Mass welcoming us into the upcoming Advent season, so please plan on staying for this after the completion of the Mass.

Advent Greetings,advent3

As we bring our first semester to a close, we wait in anticipation as we journey closer to Christmas and we light our last Advent candle this weekend. Thank you to everyone who has supported the efforts at our school. I would like to thank you for your generosity not only during this Advent Season, but throughout our school year. Your participation in our monthly missions has brought joy to those who we have been able to serve. Your participation in the Angel Tree will bring joy and a smile to many. Lastly, thank you so very much for your generous donation to our staff and faculty.

I am very thankful for the many blessings bestowed upon our students and families at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. Last weekend, our Science Olympiad team traveled to Orlando to compete in an Invitational. Our students competed against the best schools in the state and were very successful. I am very proud to say our students earned the “Most Spirited” award and the award for being the “Most Inventive”. I must say our students reacted quickly to challenges, overcoming obstacles to earn medals and ribbons. SHCS students earned 7 medals and 10 ribbons and placed third overall. Our next challenge will be our regional competition on Saturday, February 20 at UWF. Special thank you to all the teachers, parents, volunteers and coordinators who made this event possible. Thank you also for your prayers for us this past weekend.

December is a special month of holiday blessings and cheer. I wish our families a happy and holy Christmas season. May you and yours find peace in the coming of the Christ Child on Christmas and may you carry Him in your hearts throughout the year. Peace to all!

Advent Greetings,advent2

As we continue to journey through Advent, we wait for the birth of Jesus, who came to show us the Father’s love. We wait for him to be born again in our hearts, our classrooms, and our homes as the Light of the World. We begin our Morning Prayer in song, led by Mr. Tom Baroco. We pray for God to be our guiding light through His Son’s likeness and to spread light throughout the world.  We ask God to help us to live our life with our daily actions rooted in goodness and forgiveness.

Please join us for Mass tomorrow as we extend an invitation to our school and parish community to meet for fellowship after Mass. Thank you to Michelle Benzinger and Molly Kane for organizing this event. If you meet outside of church, Michelle and Molly will direct you to the Rita Reynolds room in the parish building.

Thank you to all of the children and families for being part of our wonderful evening of Christmas songs and performance. Once again, we are shown the wonderful talent our students exhibit at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. As I said last evening, thank you for giving us the privilege of working with your family for academic excellence and service to all.

Midterm exams for students in our middle school are next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students have been given study guides and the review has begun. Thank you for supporting your child in academic excellence with this endeavor.

As a reminder; we have noon dismissal on Friday, December 18. There will be NO extended care.
