Rest in Peace

PierrettePierrette Gorman
(Pierrette Hardin)
June 14, 1947 – April 25, 2018

For over thirty (30) years Pierrette has touched the lives of countless children at the school and church through her teaching in the classroom, teaching Religious Education classes, tutoring and coordinating First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Pierrette had a wonderful sense of humor and always greeted her friends with a warm hug.

The Sacred Heart community will miss her and we offer our condolences to her daughter, Danielle.  You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Prayer Request

Please remember the Camposagrado family in your prayers.  Joey is in 5th grade. prayerrequest2

Joey was hit in the head with a ball during Monday’s track practice. While a complete accident, this incident resulted in Joey being admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital  where he  is currently in Pediatric  ICU.

We visited Joey and his family today and he seems to be doing well, although tired. His spirits are always positive as he is more concerned about others than himself.

As a family community, please remember Joey and his family in your prayers this week.  If all goes well, Joey may be able to leave the hospital this weekend.

Principal’s News & Notes

Easter Greetings,snow

Blessings to you and your family as we continue to celebrate the Easter season.  While we were at different ends of the state, country and world, we are all blessed to be able to celebrate our faith together. Welcome back as we begin our final journey for this last quarter.

Our virtue this month is justice. Student council and the classroom teachers will continue discussions on how justice can be applied to ourselves, our friends, family and school.  Please enter into a discussion at home about this.

April brings many new happenings.  I will be out of town next Friday until Sunday as I attend a seminar and retreat in South Bend, Indiana. I am delighted as I will be once again at my daughter’s alma mater, so while I will miss being with you Friday and Sunday at Mass, I will be praying for our school families at Notre Dame.

Please mark your calendars for the following dates.

  • Tuesday, April 10th – “To Kill a Mockingbird” Field Trip (Monroeville, AL)
    • Mr. Elting / 7th Grade

The Ribbon Mass is a highlight of the 8th grade in that is a recognition of the life of these young people as they have evolved in their faith during their time at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.  By tradition, the 8th graders are pinned with a ribbon from their 2nd grade buddies.  Following Mass, a brunch is held in Ave Maria Hall for both the 2nd and 8th grade students.

Please consider participating in our annual Golf Tournament.  The date is Saturday, April 28th.  This is a great time to put together teams that involve father/son, father/daughter.  Athletes, please come together and participate in a great day of fun and fellowship.  The tournament is going to happen at Scenic Hills Golf Club. Many of our parents are actively involved in making this event happen and it has become a major fundraising event for our school.  This is not a competitive event, but rather a time to come together and celebrate our school and families.kimbell

Finally, a new swing set will be arriving soon and installed where the present swing sit exists.  We are very excited for this added piece of playground equipment that is safe and up to date.

Blessings,
