PTO News – Nominations Needed!

voteThe general PTO meeting was held on Wednesday, April 6. At this meeting we gave away one $100 school registration fee. The lucky winner was Leann Roberts. Congratulations to the Roberts family!

Unfortunately, our general meeting was poorly attended. If you were not in attendance and would like to review the minutes, they will be available on the website. A pressing matter that we need to address is the PTO board elections. We will be losing our President and Secretary this year, so we need nominations for those positions. Please send in nominations for either position. To serve as President one must have formerly served in an elected position on the PTO board. You may self-nominate. You can send nominations to Michelle Robinson at through Friday, May 6. Once nominations are received, we will conduct an election through School Messenger the week of May 9. Please participate. We need your input!

Mrs. Snow’s News & Notes

Congratulations to the track team for another first place finish! This is such an example of the diligence and dedication of not only our students, but Coach Luther and all the parental support! We couldn’t do this if we didn’t all work together. Thank you Sacred Heart Cathedral School Family.

Our first annual poetry evening was a great success. Thank you Mr. Elting, Ms. Miller and Mr. Baroco for organizing the event. Our students shared their original works of poetry, read and acted out works from their favorite author and shared their talents with everyone. Our youngest author was Lauren Peaden, a first grader, who read her original poem. Several middle school students also wrote original poems and shared. Thank you to the parents, faculty and Mr. Durkin, who also shared their favorite poem. Please plan to join us next year for this wonderful event.

Our ROV team is leaving for Dauphin Island Sea Lab tomorrow after Morning Prayer. This is an exciting time for the team as they have prepared for their competition and have spent numerous hours designing, testing and documenting information on their design. Thank you Mrs. Young for the shirt design and Mr. Hartwell and Mr. Howard for organizing this event. I plan on being with the team on Sunday as they present their information to the committee at the Sea Lab. I am continually so proud of our Sacred Heart Cathedral School students.

Our annual golf tournament is Saturday. Hope to see everyone there early and ready to play golf! It is a great time to spend time with one another.

Blessings on your week,

Mrs. Snow’s News & Notes

Please mark your calendar for this Wednesday, April 20th at 6 p.m.  This is our first annual Poetry Evening.  Our event will be held in Ave Maria Hall. Since April is poetry month, our students are sharing their talents in writing and reading poetry.  Some poems are original works by the student and other readers will share their favorite poet by reading their poetry.  Light refreshments will be served, so plan to come and enjoy.
I will be out of town early next week on an accreditation visit.  This will be helpful as we prepare for our own accreditation, which will be on the 27th and 28th of this month.  Thank you to everyone who completed the parent survey.  These were very informative as we prepare for our visit.
Mr. Luke Farabaugh, known as Mr. Luke to our children, is going to be ordained to the diaconate this Saturday at the Mass of Ordination at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church  in Boca Raton, Florida.  Please keep Mr. Luke and his family in your prayers.  We are going to invite Mr. Luke to spend a day with us at Sacred Heart when he returns to Pensacola.
Blessings for your continued support and for sharing your wonderful children with us here at Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
