Thank you to everyone who attended our first Lenten Spiritual Evening. The teachers created a delicious dinner of homemade red beans and rice, soups, and salads. Participants listened to Mr. Hartwell’s reflection on how to make this Lenten Journey more meaningful and created a wreath of thorns as a daily reminder.
The middle school students will be attending an all day retreat next Wednesday, February 24th. Their day will begin with Mass at the Cathedral followed by a series of talks, meditations and reflections in Ave Maria Hall. We are very fortunate to have Mrs. Forte and Molly Kane coordinate this effort.
Thank you to everyone who contributed cans for our 100th day of school. The classes that collected the most cans were the first and seventh grades. They will have an out-of-uniform day, to be announced soon. All together, as a school, we collected over 500 cans to stock the Cathedral’s food pantry. Thank you, as always, for your generosity.
On Saturday, our middle school students will be competing in the Science Olympiad competition at UWF. Please stop by and watch our diligent students in action as they compete with gliders, bottle rockets and bridges and take tests on fossils, weather and other various science categories.
Looking forward, students in second through eighth grades will begin ITBS testing on Monday, March 7th and complete the testing on Thursday, March 10th. Make-up days will March 11, 14, and 15. Please plan ahead to make this a quiet, peaceful week for your child.
The end of the third quarter is Friday, March 11. Student-led conferences will begin on the 16th of March.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our Lenten Family Spiritual Evening will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. The evening will begin, in our newly remodeled gym, with dinner that will include soup/salad, bread, and red beans and rice prepared and served by our teachers. Just bring your family to enjoy. We appreciate you, our parents, and welcome you in partnership during the spiritual development of your child (ren) throughout the year, but especially during this Lenten season.
Following dinner, Mr. Hartwell will present a reflection on “what can I do to reach out to others and help someone”. Everyone will then come together for a Lenten family activity where the families will be given the supplies to make a Lenten wreath for your home, culminating in a flower wreath for Easter Sunday. The evening will begin at 5:30 and will finish no later than 7:30.
We hope you will join us for an evening of reflection on our Lenten journey. As we journey through Lent we grow together as a family community in anticipation of celebrating Jesus’ Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Please plan to join us for this evening of spiritual growth. Please RSVP by February 14 so we have enough supplies…
You may send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org indicating family name and number attending or send an email to your child’s primary teacher. Thank you for all you do in partnership with us in promoting our Catholic identity within our schools and families.
